About me.

“When we revolt it’s not for a particular culture. We revolt simply because, for many reasons, we can no longer breathe.” (Frantz, Fanon)

ABOUT ME!

I am a strong, independent African lady. I am proud of my heritage and inspired by my continent.  In May 2009, I was raped and my world as I knew it turned upside down. For more than four years I felt like I was struck in a black hole. Joy never came in the morning and my only mission in life was to survive the day. The problem with having such a mission is you miss out on all the beautiful possibilities that life has to offer. The beauty around you fades away; your focus turns to your failures and your diminished capacity, and your engulfed by utter darkness.

I reached rock bottom in 2013, however I only made a change in 2014 when I decided take some time off to seek the help I so desperately needed. In September 2014, I found the strength to start a blog and speak about my rape. I chose to revolt, because I could no longer breathe while rape and rape culture continued to flourish.

Now I embrace my responsibilities as a daughter, sister, friend and beloved daughter of God. I aspire to learn, and to empowerment women and children, through my life experience and knowledge. I choose to follow the footsteps of My mum, sister, brothers, Nelson Mandela, Steve Biko, Anton Lembede, Frantz Fanon, Mwalimu Nyerere, Wangari Maathai, Winnie Mandela, Miriam Makeba, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Rosa Parks, Maya Angelou and Oprah Winfrey. These individuals chose to change the culture of injustice, oppression, racisms, and ignorance. They chose to surrender themselves to the cause because they could no longer breathe.

I surrender myself to the eradication of rape and the empowerment of women and children, as I can no longer breathe while this injustice is practiced.

LET’S STAND FIRM IN ERADICATION OF RAPE, AS WE HAVE THE POWER TO END IT!
